One of the things I love about how my life has changed is that I’m no longer so concerned about changing my mind so here I go . . . changing it!
Since 11th June I’ve been playing the game of ‘Play For No Pay‘ which was due to end on 10th July but I’m calling a halt to it early, at least so far as in the way I was playing it.
I set up ‘Play For No Pay’ because “I felt that thinking about selling stuff was blocking me so I decided to “spend time making arty crafty stuff simply because it appeals to me, even if I can’t see where it’s going and/or I don’t think I’ll be able to sell it”. That certainly helped . . . some of the time . . . but I’ve noticed that that game, so nobly set up, has now become a block in and of itself.
Since completing Blogathon 2 my focus has turned towards the business stuff and, in that environment, I’ve found I’ve not been creating much. I was interpreting the rules of my game to mean that I can’t think about making art from a business perspective. But since that’s the space I’ve been in recently, that thinking is now the block. Tricky stuff this thinking!
My focus has been on the “No Pay” bit whereas it’s much better placed on the “Play” bit.
The description “spend time making arty crafty stuff simply because it appeals to me, even if I can’t see where it’s going and/or I don’t think I’ll be able to sell it” doesn’t say anything about not doing stuff that might sell but somehow I managed to interpret it that way.
A better title for the game would have been:
‘Play For Pay Or No Pay . . . whatever . . . Just Have Fun’
or
‘Stop Trying To Work It All Out and Just Have Fun’
or
‘Stop Trying To Control Everything and Just Have Fun’
or
