An Unusual Success Of A Show
This writing for whoever shows up has turned out to be more difficult than I imagined.
The residue of thinking I need to do it the “right” way leaves me with a lot of blog posts in draft form or written in my head but not published.
I’ve been to-ing and fro-ing about the “right” angle from which to write this post and have decided that I’m just going to write what comes.
My primary purpose is to publish the picture of the stand from the Show I did on Sunday as I’ve promised a number of people I would. So . . . ta, da!! Here’s a picture of my stand.
I was very pleased with how it turned out and, as is so often the case, the simplest way turned out to be the best way.
I had a trial run the night before, took a photo of it and then packed up the pictures in the order they were hanging on the stand. This make it super easy to reconstruct the next day.
I didn’t get everything done I wanted to and overdid other things. For example, I ended up with about 9 pictures half completed and so not ready for sale. But I had about 40 bags made to put them in and then, it turned out, I didn’t need even one of them.
I learned a lot though, about all sorts of things so, for me it was a resounding, if somewhat unusual, success despite my not selling a single painting. Yep. You heard right. I didn’t sale any.
The biggest win for me was that I was OK with not selling any paintings. I was able to just follow the process of creating them and take them to the show without any attachment to the outcome. I like that. It’s very freeing.
It’s not something I’d wish to do on a regular basis, however, since it costs money that I’d rather get a return on. But for now it’s enough. I’m happy to see what comes next and keep moving forward in whatever way shows up next. Right now that looks like getting my online shop finished and playing with some other product ideas I have.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed myself these last few weeks and find myself curious and excited about what happens next.
Please feel free to leave a comment on the blog. It’s lovely hearing from you.
