Letting Go and Flora Bowley’s Bloom True Boot Camp
Throughout September Artist Flora Bowley is running a free, online creative boot camp “to support, guide, inspire and ultimately kick your creative habit into high gear — or at least get you moving in the right direction!” (Click on the link to find out more about it and how you can join in).
The day the email arrived telling me of her offering I was faffing around jumping from one thing to another and not feeling good about it. The boot camp sounded like the perfect way to add some structure to my life and get creating again. Fast forward to today and I confess that I’ve actually only completed one of the prompts so far and that was more out of desperation than anything else! It was the prompt for September 4th: Get Quiet.
Over the last few weeks the often ignored but ever patient voice of wisdom has been suggesting the same thing – Stop. Let yourself off the hook. Allow yourself to do nothing. Let go. – But I didn’t want to hear. I’m in the middle of having a new website designed and there is much to do and think about. But the more I push the less I get done. The harder I try the louder the dissenting voices get and the more confused I become. Then my mood drops and I’m caught in the “wanting to give up and chuck it all in” place.
Yesterday I finally did give up. And from there I remembered Flora’s boot camp and listened to the Get Quiet meditation on Day 4. It helped a lot. I ended up creating an earrings holder and spending most of the day on the beach with a friend. I didn’t get much done but it was enough to slow down my thinking and I feel so much better for it.
Today my plan is go back to Day 1 of the boot camp and work my way forwards.
I’ll let you know how it works out!
In the meantime, if you’re holding onto something and ignoring the “slow down, take a break” voices, I can highly recommend just letting go. . . . go on, you know you want to really!
As always, please leave a comment if you feel inspired to do so. Let’s get a conversation going!
